Antistatic wrist straps or ESD wrist straps are worn by people working in static sensitive devices and assemblies to prevent them building up charge on themselves which could be transferred to the static sensitive item.
Typically wrist straps are used with other anti-static precautions so that the item being worked upon is in a static free environment where charge which might damages the components is safely dissipated.
As movement by people generates static charge, this charge needs to be given a safe route to ground, and the antistatic strap enables this to be achieved.
The ESD wrist strap is worn by the operator working on an item of electronics, providing a high resistance path to ground and in this way prevents static build up which could harm the electronic circuit.
Two parts of the anti-static wrist strap::
Antistatic wrist strap :Outer surface made from a non-conductive material and an inner surface that is conductive, often using silver yarn.
Lead：a snap connector( have 1MΩ inbuilt resistor) is used at one end of the and a crocodile clip at the other. This enables the antistatic wrist strap to be connected to a variety of earth points.
By ground wire material: PVC / PU / silver plated / carbonaceous material.
By bracelet material: metal, dust-free silicone, rubber band.
By discharge method: ordinary type / double circuit / corona discharge.

1、Wrap the ESD strap around your wrist. Before you come into contact with ESD-sensitive items, put the ESD strap around your wrist and snap it closed. All parts of the strap should be in direct contact with your skin at all times.
2、Tug on the strap to make sure the clasp will hold tight and not come apart if the cord is jerked or pulled.
3、Attach the other end of the strap to a common ground. At the other end of the cord attached to your wrist strap is an alligator clip that you can use to connect yourself to a common ground.
